Multiple Turning Point Litigation Attorneys Named “Super Lawyers” in North Carolina
February 3, 2017
Each year a select group of lawyers are awarded the distinction of “Super Lawyers,” and this year multiple Turning Point Litigation lawyers were honored for their superior performance record and dedication to the profession. This prestigious distinction is awarded to less than 5 percent of the total lawyers in the state. Less than 2.5% of attorneys are recognized as “Rising Stars.”
In 2017 North Carolina Super Lawyers, Alan Duncan was recognized as one of the Top 100 attorneys in North Carolina, and as a Super Lawyer for Business Litigation. Allison Mullins was recognized as a Super Lawyer for General Litigation. Steve Russell was recognized as a Rising Star for General Litigation.
The rigorous and independent selection process begins with nominations from peers, or selection by Super Lawyers’ research department, which is used to create a candidate pool. Once a candidate is selected to join the candidate pool, a formal research process begins in which the candidate is judged on the following criteria:
- Verdicts/Settlements
- Transactions
- Representative Clients
- Experience
- Honors/Awards
- Special licenses/certifications
- Position within the law firm
- Bar and/or professional activity
- Pro bono and community service
- Scholarly lectures/writings
- Education/employment background
- Other outstanding achievements
The third selection step is peer evaluation by practice area. This process is sometimes called “the blue ribbon review.” During this process, the highest rated candidates up to that point are asked to join the review committee and then asked to rate the candidates in their respective practice areas on a scale of 1 to 5.
The final selection step is completed by grouping candidates into four firm-size categories. Those with highest point totals from each firm size category are selected for the distinction.
